ARM has an immediate opening for a housing specialist/director.
The Housing Specialist, HS, with ARM is a highly professional position overseeing the housing case management and housing programs of ARM. This position reports directly to ARM’s executive director.
The HS is responsible for the oversight of all home repair and housing programs with ARM. This includes participation in various housing programs such as USDA and HUD, housing grant submissions and management, coordination with remodels and renovations, housing advocacy and all other aspects of housing by ARM. The HS must develop an understanding of or be willing to be trained in government funded housing products and bank lending mortgage products. This position requires, first and foremost, a person with a heart for individuals and families who have low and fixed incomes and who possess housing challenges. S/he must be an extremely organized individual with a keen attention to detail, able to develop creative solutions for constituents, and be flexible and adaptable. ARM uses volunteers for a majority of its home repair ministry. Therefore, the HS must also work well with volunteers, especially youth and young adults, and support ARM’s servant leadership development goals.
The HS, as part of the ARM leadership team, also assists in the developing, implementing, and maintaining of other key events associated with the growth and promotion of ARM as it relates to housing operations. The DOHO implements the policies and procedures as set forth by the ARM Board of Directors in conjunction with the ARM executive director. S/he provides timely evaluations and reports to the Board. S/he will represent ARM as a minister of the Gospel and maintain the highest of integrity, love, and moral character inside and outside of ARM in order to maintain a positive influence within our community.

- Has proven success in housing case management or housing counseling

Qualifications and experience Candidates must:
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a social work, sociology, housing field, or finance background
- Have 1 year of experience in case management or housing counseling
- Be committed and actively involved in a Christian – based, local church
- Be experienced in serving with people

Programs: ARM coordinates affordable housing and home repair efforts in rural, low income areas of Alabama, predominantly in Sumter, Macon, and Lee counties. ARM runs mission sites to host volunteers doing home repair. ARM helps families apply for home repair grants through partnerships with the USDA, HUD, and the Community Development Block Grant in the City of Auburn. With these programs, ARM provides more extensive repair and some of this work is contracted and some is completed using volunteers. ARM provides day camps and after school ministry programs for children in the areas where we are providing repair. Finally, we develop community partnerships and have student groups on university campuses.
