No More Shacks Start of Day 2: November 1, 2024 All Saints Day

Candy, masks, excitement, and beautiful weather; make it a pleasant experience living in the shack so far. Being joined by a City Councilmen in Tyler Adams, who is also on our board, Mr. Allan Conradi of Thalamus Electric, Mrs. Dara Hose, and Majors Ron Anders and Gary Fuller of Auburn and Opelika respectively have resulted in some great conversations. It was also wonderful to have Rev. Patrick Craig from The Foundry UMC, Joe Davis, a wonderful friend and former ARM staffer, as well as our dear friend Fred Callahan who served on and chaired our Board of Directors.

Faces of Restoration focus: Ms. Randolph. She is the definition of sweet! We have shared about Ms. Randolph recently and the volunteer groups serving with her. We are especially grateful to the Auburn University Building Science Class. As a class project, they have worked to complete her repairs including replacing exterior siding, installing handicap grab bars, and replacing transitions in her floors that create tripping hazards.

Ms. Randolph is a kind, sweet spirit trying to look after her grandson! She reads her Bible daily and prays with us at each visit. It is beautiful seeing God’s spirit moving. A need for hip replacement and arthritis impaired her mobility. A minimal income impaired her ability to hire a contractor to make these repairs. We are so thankful we can serve with her and know God is working in her and us!

Back to the Shack…

It was an exciting first day! All of the young children coming by getting Halloween candy (thanks for all of those donations) made for an easy time to give a small gift. The student Halloween costumes and the great variety amused us. The night was typical for downtown Auburn. Loud with high energy as home football games begin again and we welcome Vanderbilt to our teams.

Why are we sitting out here? So we can raise funds to repair more homes! Our goal is $100,000 to repair 10 homes. So far you have raise $31,000. That means three homes are sponsored! Just seven more to go! Let’s see what God will do today!
