It’s Week 6 of ARM’s Summer Youth Mission Camp, which means the summer is coming to a quick close as we host our last summer teams next week. We’ve accomplished so much already this summer, and we have you to thank for that! Thank you for partnering with us as we seek to eliminate substandard housing in rural Alabama and extend the love of Christ; we wouldn’t exist apart from your support, encouragement, prayer, and financial donations.
Be sure to check out our Youth Mission Camp 2016 Youtube playlist to keep up with all the action!
Week 4
We had two teams serve with us during Week 4 of camp. Tuskegee hosted Fayette First UMC from Fayette, Alabama. Although this was Fayette’s third year serving with us through both home repair and day camp, this was their first year serving with us at our Tuskegee location. In Livingston, our friends from Cokesbury UMC in Pensacola, Florida served with us. During Cokesbury’s time in Livingston this summer, they were able to visit some of the homeowners they served with last summer.
While we know that anything we repair physically may not weather the next storm that comes along, we are thankful for the blessing we have in the opportunities to build relationships with the people we serve alongside–for we know that relationships through Christ have the ability to weather any storm.
Week 5
Trinity UMC Ft. Walton Beach from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida served with us in Tuskegee for their 10th consecutive summer! Thank you for your faithfulness to our ministry and the work that God is doing in rural Alabama! We always love serving with you, and we look forward to another 10 years of service with you! We also want to give a special shout out to one of the team members who came with Trinity; he is in the military, and in order to serve with ARM for a week this summer, he has to sacrifice being deployed a week early, so he’ll miss Christmas with his family. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice to our country and to God as your decisions reflect your heart for missions. Livingston did not host a youth team during Week 5, which meant that two of the Construction Coordinators spent the week serving at Day Camp. Week 5 was also a great week in Livingston for the other Construction Coordinators to finish tying up some loose ends and close out some of the homes they had been working on this summer.
