It was so exciting to serve with Auburn students from our new student organization, ARM@AU,
and our friends from the AU Christian Veterinary Fellowship! We hosted 3 teams of 17 students
for a day of service on Saturday, September 19. One of the teams served with the Alford family
in the Salem community, another helped us continue renovations at the Tuskegee Mission Hub,
and the third team did great work on the Maple St home in Tuskegee where our neighborhood
revitalization efforts continue! We are so grateful to all the students who gave up their free time
on Saturday to serve with us. We look forward to doing it again soon!
We love getting to know the families we serve with through home repair. As we mentioned, one
of the families our teams served with on September 19 was the Alford family in Salem. We
began working with Ms. Alford and her family back in March. It’s been a pleasure serving with
someone like Ms. Alford who has served as the pastor at New Jerusalem Outreach Ministry for
over 24 years. While our teams served with Ms. Alford on September 19, she told us she was
preparing to attend a special event later that day. We came to find out just how special it was!
Ms. Alford was being honored with an achievement award for being such a wonderful role
model as a woman in ministry. We are so proud of Ms. Alford’s accomplishments and so
thankful
for the opportunity we’ve had to serve with someone who has such a heart for ministry!
