Where We Are

Nothing is going to keep us from extending love! Not pandemics, financial strains, or physical distancing. Because nothing can separate us from God’s love, then nothing is going to stop us from loving and serving others; loving our neighbor as ourselves!

We want to hear your story of how you have served others! What are creative things you have done to extend God’s love? Served at a food pantry, delivered supplies, wrote a kind note, no matter what you did, will you share it with us? #extendlovevirus We’ll share this in our social media!

This summer will look different. With six interns, one site, and still safety in mind, we are moving towards creativity! Our team of three construction coordinators, two day camp counselors and one site leader are prepared to host mission teams, minister with children virtually or in small groups and serve as small construction teams. We still have 60 families in Lee County recovering from last year’s tornado and we are not letting anything stop us from serving.

However, we are highly mindful of precautions to protect our interns, volunteers and the families with whom we serve. What does that look like?

  • Each day we do a health check with questions and take temperatures
  • In public we mask up; “who is the masked ARM intern?”
  • We made a “prayer rope” with orange engineer tape every 6’. We can circle up, grab the rope and pray- physically distanced and yet socially connected.
  • Son Shine Kids Day Camp goes video- we are filming sessions, taking art kits, arranging for lunches and videoing reading sessions to send to our kids if we don’t feel we can gather with them. We have a few more weeks to discern where we are!
  • On site with families, we’ll also wear masks and use our prayer rope. In Ecclesiastes, we read “two are better than one, a cord of three strands cannot be easily broken” We’ll share devotions and encouragement.

Need a way to reach out to others this summer?
